Board of Education Meeting
December 15, 2009
The regular meeting of the Holy Trinity Catholic School Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, by President Ray Menke at Holy Trinity Elementary Library in West Point . Fr. Beckkman led the prayer.
Roll Call: Present: Fr. Beckman, Brad Box, Jeff Denning, Tom Gregg, Loren Holtkamp, Ray Menke, Craig Pieper, Roy Tinguely. Absent: Fr. Apo, Gary Hoyer, Fr. Spring. Fr. Richmond arrived late.
Agenda: Item A. Fund Raiser Approval was added under New Business. Motion to approve the agenda by Tom Gregg, second by Craig Pieper. Motion carried.
Minutes: The minutes of the November regular meeting were approved on a motion by Craig Pieper, second by Brad Box. Motion carried.

New Business:
Fund Raiser Request: TAPS requested approval of a “Bunny Hop Walk/Run” to be held during the annual Easter egg hunt in West Point . Motion to approve by Craig Pieper, second by Loren Holtkamp. Motion carried.
Administrative Reports:
Religious Education: Written report submitted. Board members commented on the low number of students (21 for all four parishes) receiving First Communion this year.
Early Childhood Centers: Written report submitted.
Elementary Education: Written report submitted.
Technology Report: Written report submitted.
Junior-Senior High School/Chief Administrator: Doris Turner’s written report was reviewed. She discussed the busing situation at Regina Catholic Schools in Iowa City, as well as the current review of Iowa tax credits, including STO, which may affect Holy Trinity.
Development Director: Rich Rump reported that the anonymous donor’s challenge grant had been met and exceeded. Donations for next year’s STO are at $96,000.00
Business Manager: A list of invoices to be paid was presented. Motion to approve by Craig Pieper, second by Tom Gregg. Motion carried.
Committee Reports:
Athletics: Two board members, Holtkamp and Tinguely, stated that they had looked at the high school gym floor and were of the opinion that it appeared to be in good shape and could wait to be stripped and refinished. Roy Tinguely also asked the administration to remind the 5th through 8th grade coaches of the requirement that all participants receive playing time in each game.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. on a motion by Craig Pieper, second by Brad Box. Motion carried.
