The Holy Trinity High School Varsity Volleyball Team is coached by: Melissa Freesmeier, she is assisted by Tom Gendron and Kelly Sanders.
Coach Freesmeier brings 19 years of varsity coaching experience as well as 2 years of JV experience to the Holy Trinity Volleyball Team. The great attitudes and work ethic of the student-athletes and unsurpassed parental support have continued to add to the success of the volleyball program. Melissa stated recently, "I believe that hard work and sacrifice pays off big dividends in the end." The truth of that statement has been proven by Marquette state appearances in 1993, 1994, 2003, and 2004, including State Champions in 1996.
Voted 1A Coach of the Year in 1996, allowed her to coach in the Iowa Girls Coach's Association All Star Game. Coach Freesmeier also has been named Conference Coach of the Year several times, All Hawk Eye Coach, All District Coach of the Year 2003 and 2004. During the 2005 year she had the opportunity to coach the KTVO/McDonald's All Star Game.
When asked if there has been a highlight to her coaching career, Coach Freesmeier said, "So far, I would say it has to have been Marquette winning the State Tournament in 1996. Seeing the joy in the team's eyes was awesome! Closely followed by Holy Trinity finishing in the "Final 4" of the 2005 State Tournament and a second place finish in the 2006 and 2007 State Tournaments."
