- Girls High School Soccer at the Adidas Tournament at the Rec Plex in Burlington at 3:30 PM vs. Homewood-Flossmoor on Field #4.  Suburbans leave at 2:00 PM, please dismiss the team at 1:45 PM
- Jr. High Girls Track team at Keokuk - meets starts at 4:30 PM, team will leave after school. - CANCELLED
-Jr. High Soccer team to Central Lee Friday night--4:30 PM, Bus leaves at 3:30 PM POSTPONED until May 8th.
Saturday, April 30th -

Faculty & Staff

Ryan Alfred - History

Ryan Alfred graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in the Fall of 2012 with a degree in Social Science Teaching. He has an All Social Sciences teaching endorsement. Mr. Alfred is in his first year as a teacher. He will teach high school social studies. In his free time, Mr. Alfred enjoys spending time outdoors, visiting National Parks, and watching sports.

 

Dominique Akpore - Religion

Dominique Akpore is in her 6th year of teaching, having graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 2004 and went on to earn a B.S. in Social Studies Education at Bowling Green State University in 2010. She then spent two years teaching Social Studies at Gallup Catholic High School in Gallup, New Mexico. Dominique is a convert to the Catholic Faith, entering the church in 2008. She is married and has a son named Jaxon. She teaches Religion for 7th, 9-12.


Allison Arevalo - Beyond the Classroom

Allison Arevalo graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in K-8 Language Arts. In 2015, she completed her gifted education endorsement from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught 8 years in Clark County, Missouri before coming to teach at Holy Trinity in 2012. Mrs. Arevalo teaches BTC (Beyond the Classroom) in grades K-12. She enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children.

Stewart Beyer  - Music
Mr. Beyer is the director of choral activities at the Holy Trinity Senior and Junior High School. Born and raised in Pella, Iowa, Mr. Beyer later moved to Cedar Falls in order to attain his bachelor's degree in choral music at the University of Northern Iowa. In spring of 2014, he spent his semester student teaching in South Korea at Korea International School and subsequently worked as a music specialist at the American School of Bombay in India. This is his 3rd year as choir director at Holy Trinity.

Taylor Beyer- History

Taylor Beyer graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in December of 2015 with a Bachelor's in History Education as well as an All-Iowa Social Studies Endorsement. She is certified in American History, American Government, World History, World Geography, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology for grades 5 through 12. She teaches 7th and 8th grade Social Studies and High School World history.  In her free time Taylor enjoys reading and practicing yoga.

 

Lauren Booten - Math

 

Ms. Booten graduated from the University of Nothern Iowa in May of 2012 with a degree in mathematics teaching. This is Ms. Booten's 5th year of teaching, and third year at Holy Trinity. She is an HTC alum (2008) and participated in many extra curricular activities--volleyball, basketball, tennis, softball, speech team, dinner theatre, show choir, choir, musicals, science club, NHS. She taught at Bettendorf High School her first two years. She teaches algebra 2, algebra 1, algebra 1 for 8th graders, and math 8 for 7th graders. She is also teaching computer science--this is the first coding class HTC has ever offered. Ms. Booten enjoys coding and technology and is excited to teach computer science and spend time in the smart classroom for the class. Ms. Booten is the girls tennis coach. In her free time she likes to play games with her family, spend time with children, bake, sing, play piano, and much more.

 

 

Melissa Freesmeier  - PE/Health
Melissa Freesmeier taught in the Marquette School System for four years but has been a volleyball coach for the system for 15 years, prior to becoming a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic School System. Melissa graduated from Culver Stockton College with a B.S. in Physical Education. Melissa has experienced great success as a coach, with 13 trips to the State Tournament, and has been honored with several coaching awards, 2004 All-District Coach of the Year, All Conference Coach of the Year, All Hawk Eye Coach of the Year, and lead the Cusaders to State in Volleyball in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Lisa Gendron  - Science
Lisa Gendron taught for 12 years in the Marquette School System before becoming a part of the Holy Trinity Catholic Science Department. Having graduated from Culver Stockton College with B.S. in Biology and Minors in Secondary Education and Psychology, Lisa is an active member of the HTC Science Department.

John Goetz- Athletic Director 
John Goetz grew up in Keokuk and graduated from Cardinal Stritch in 1975. Mr. Goetz has a B.S. degree in Physical Education from Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. He and his wife, Kim, have been married for 30 years and their daughter Jennifer is teaching and coaching varsity girls basketball for the Pleasant Valley School District.

John has taught at Marquette, Cardinal Stritch and Holy Trinity Catholic a variety of Jr. High Math, Social Studies and Health along with K-12 Physical Education. Mr. Goetz served as the Athletic Director at both Cardinal Stritch and Holy Trinity. John enjoys attending any HTC athletic event along with rooting on the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. In his spare time you will probably find John on the golf course or visiting his daughter in the Quad Cities.

Jessica Gutzman

Jessica Gutzman graduated from The University of Toledo in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Special Education and received her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Viterbo University in 2014. Jessica's first 6 years after college were spent teaching 9-12th grade special education at Fort Madison High School before joining the HTC staff. Mrs. Gutzman provides services for students in grades K-12.

Corey Hamilton

Mr. Hamilton will be our Technology Integration Specialist. He will be responsible for connecting the students' curriculum to the wonderful world of technology. He will be working alongside each teacher to ensure that the students will be engaged in technology while still receiving meaningful instruction. He graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Social Studies.

In his spare time, Corey loves watching football with his wife and spending time with his twin daughters. 

Renee Holliday -  Advanced Placement Coordinator/Administrator
Ms. Holliday received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Ed at Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans and a Master's at Viterbo in Secondary Education.   Ms. Holliday is also certified in Advanced Placement Literature and Composition and Advanced Placement Language and Composition. She teaches British Literature, American Literature, Advanced Expository Writing and Research Methods, and Advanced Placement Language and Composition. Ms. Holliday was awarded the 2015 Teacher of the Year Award for Holy Trinity Catholic Schools.  

Jan Jacobs - Religion

Jan Jacobs teaches Theology at the Jr. and Sr. High School level for Holy Trinity Catholic School System. Mrs. Jacobs graduated from Bradley University with a BME degree. Mrs. Jacobs is responsible for all the school masses. In the past, Mrs. Jacobs taught band and chorus for a number of years, was her church organist for 12 years and is active in the Cursillo Church Community. Mrs. Jacobs has been awarded the "Ambassador of Christ Recognition" from St. Mary's press.
Mrs. Jacobs is responsible for the Confirmation Unit for the 8th graders.
"I am very proud and excited to be teaching Theology for Holy Trinity Catholic Schools again this year."  

 

Brad Kurtz  - Math
Brad Kurtz is a part-time mathematics teacher. Prior to coming to Holy Trinity, Brad worked for 4 years in test development at ACT in Iowa City, and taught mathematics for 17 years at Aquinas High School. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Angelo State (Texas) University and a master of science degree in mathematics from Western Illinois University. During his free time, Brad plays in 2 local bands (Chaz and the Channel Cats and Home Brood), and has assisted in set construction for the dinner theatre at Holy Trinity and Aquinas high schools.  

Samantha Lang - English

 

Samantha Lang is a recent graduate of Iowa State University with a B.A. in Secondary English Education and a background in Journalism and Mass Communication.
This year at Holy Trinity Schools will be her first year of teaching since graduating. She is very excited to start and will be teaching 9th grade English, 10th grade English, General English, and Composition.
Samantha just moved to the area and hopes to stay for a while. Some of her favorite hobbies are kayaking, reading, and traveling.

Sara Mueller  - English   

Graduated from Aquinas in 1995 and earned an Secondary English Education degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Earned a Masters in Education through Graceland University in 2007.

Taught Computer Science for eight years at McKinley Middle School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and then taught five years of Language Arts in the Keokuk Community School District. Mrs. Mueller is teaching 7th and 8th Language Arts, Literature/Composition, and Publications.

Emily Otte - Music

Emily Otte graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Music Education
degree. She also earned a Master of Science in Education as a Reading Specialist from
Western Illinois University in 2003.
Mrs. Otte taught at Aquinas and Macomb, Illinois before returning to teach instrumental music at
Holy Trinity in 2009. Mrs. Otte performs with the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra,
Southeast Iowa Band, Nauvoo Community Band and Orchestra and the Fort Madison City
Band. When Emily is not playing her clarinet, she enjoys spending time kayaking, hiking and
traveling with her husband Darin and their 3 children.


 

Robert Rippenkroeger - Speech/Theatre/Drama
Robert Rippenkroeger has been instructing for 45 in the Fort Madison Catholic schools, 35 in the days of Aquinas system and 10 since the creation of Holy Trinity. Mr. Ripp graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) in Kirksville, with a B.A. in Speech and an emphasis on Drama. He has directed 40 full-length plays for the Theatre Department since 1974 (in Dinner Theatre format since 1987) and coached 39 teams in the Iowa High School Speech Association's Contest season. He has received the United Way Service Award and been named an All-State Speech Coach. If you're out and about, you may find Mr. Ripp singing and playing in several local bands.

Steve Rung  - Art
Steve Rung graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1977 with a B.A. Degree in Visual Arts and a minor in Physical Education. Besides teaching Art and PE in the Aquinas system and Holy Trinity School system the last 31 years, he has coached high school basketball, softball, boy's track, girl's track and  boy's golf.  Steve also served as Athletic Director at Aquinas/HTC for 8 years.
Steve and his wife Becky are enjoying their "empty nest" lifestyle. His son Adam started teaching and coaching at Clark County and their daughter Katie accepted a nursing position at Ft. Madison Community Hospital.

Sylvia Soule -- Library
Mrs. Soule is a graduate of Truman State University with an emphasis in Art, Applied Arts, English and Education. Sylvia and her husband Bob have three sons. Sylvia taught at Cardinal Stritch in Keokuk for several years prior to coming to Holy Trinity Catholic Schools in 2006.
Mrs. Soule is a member of the Fort Madison Art Center , Keokuk Art Center , Fine Arts Council of Keokuk and the Amana Art Guild, Amana, Iowa. Creativity is a word Sylvia has chosen in the pursuit of everything she does, and maintains it as a priority. 

Kathy Steffensmeier - Business
Mrs. Kathy Steffensmeier taught in the Marquette School System for 26 years before the merger of the Holy Trinity Catholic School System. Mrs. Steffensmeier also as the National Honor Society Advisor. Kathy is a graduate of Columbus Community High School and Mt. Mercy College. In 1979, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a minor in Secondary Education. In addition to her degree, Kathy has earned graduate hours from Drake University, Viterbo, Marycreast and the University of Iowa. She is a member of the Iowa Business Education Association, and the AEA16 Regional Business Advisory Committee.

Jill Stull- K-12 Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Stull graduated from Western Illinois University in 2007 with a degree in Elementary Education with middle school endorsements in social studies and language arts. Jill graduated in May of 2014 from Quincy University with a master's degree in School Counseling. Jill’s first four years after college were spent teaching 7th grade geography at the Fort Madison Middle School before joining the HTC staff. Mrs. Stull provides K-12 Guidance and serves as the Jr. High Student Council supervisor.

Ivonne Wiegand - Spanish

I graduated from the University Autonoma of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico in 1984 with a BS degree in Journalism and minor in Public Relations. I came to the United States in 1985 as an Foreign Exchange Student to learn English at Revere C-3 & Clark County R1 High Schools. In 1998-2003 became a full time substitute teacher for Clark Co. Schools. In 2004-2013 I was asked to teach Spanish at Scotland Co. R-1 in Memphis, Missouri, I took some education classes at Culver Stockton & Truman State University to be able to teach Spanish. I started teaching at HTC in 2014.
I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family, and also playing golf with my husband.
