HTC Speech Team Scores at District Contest

 

The Holy Trinity Speech Team earned 24 "Superior" ratings at the Iowa High School Speech Association's district speech contest on Saturday, Feb. 25th at the Tri-County High School in Thornburg.  The Crusaders were led by six performers who received top scores in two events each.

 

Sabrina Fullhart was "superior" in Prose Interpretation and Acting, while Lillian Schierbrock moves on to state in Acting and Storytelling.  Yang-hee Kim scored top ratings in both Literary Program and Original Oratory, and Katie Scoville was "superior" in Prose Interpretation and Radio News Announcing.  Avery Malinski aslo earned a "superior" rating in Radio News Announcing, as well as in Public Address, an Camilla Almeida will advance to the state tournament with top scores in Acting and Prose Interpretation.

 

Also moving on to the state tournament with a "superior" rating were Ryan Otte and Kyle Scheetz in Storytelling; Jayde Watznauer, Claire Graham, and Conrad Hellman in Poetry Interpretation; Ben Tinguely in the category of Literary Program; Sam Avery in Radio News Announcing; Alex Bentler in Public Address; Sterling Barnes in Acting; and Rhett Fullhart in Original Oratory.  Josh Caruso and Mason Holvoet also earned "superior " marks and will advance in Expository address.

 

Matilda Jung and Sam Stinson received a rating of "excellent".  Performers earning "superior" scores now look forward to the state contest at Vinton-Shellsburg High School on March 11th.  The Orators from Holy Trinity are coached by Robert Rippenkroeger.
