Stewart Beyer - Music

Mr. Beyer is the director of choral activities at the Holy Trinity Senior and Junior High School. Born and raised in Pella, Iowa, Mr. Beyer later moved to Cedar Falls in order to attain his bachelor's degree in choral music at the University of Northern Iowa. In spring of 2014, he spent his semester student teaching in South Korea at Korea International School and subsequently worked as a music specialist at the American School of Bombay in India. This is his 3rd year as choir director at Holy Trinity.

Taylor Beyer- History

Taylor Beyer graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in December of 2015 with a Bachelor's in History Education as well as an All-Iowa Social Studies Endorsement. She is certified in American History, American Government, World History, World Geography, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology for grades 5 through 12. She teaches 7th and 8th grade Social Studies and High School World history.  In her free time Taylor enjoys reading and practicing yoga.


Melissa Freesmeier - PE/Health

Melissa Freesmeier taught in the Marquette School System for four years but has been a volleyball coach for the system for 15 years, prior to becoming a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic School System. Melissa graduated from Culver Stockton College with a B.S. in Physical Education. Melissa has experienced great success as a coach, with 13 trips to the State Tournament, and has been honored with several coaching awards, 2004 All-District Coach of the Year, All Conference Coach of the Year, All Hawk Eye Coach of the Year, and lead the Cusaders to State in Volleyball in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Lisa Gendron - Science

Lisa Gendron taught for 12 years in the Marquette School System before becoming a part of the Holy Trinity Catholic Science Department. Having graduated from Culver Stockton College with B.S. in Biology and Minors in Secondary Education and Psychology, Lisa is an active member of the HTC Science Department.

John Goetz- Athletic Director

John Goetz grew up in Keokuk and graduated from Cardinal Stritch in 1975. Mr. Goetz has a B.S. degree in Physical Education from Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. He and his wife, Kim, have been married for 30 years and their daughter Jennifer is teaching and coaching varsity girls basketball for the Pleasant Valley School District.

John has taught at Marquette, Cardinal Stritch and Holy Trinity Catholic a variety of Jr. High Math, Social Studies and Health along with K-12 Physical Education. Mr. Goetz served as the Athletic Director at both Cardinal Stritch and Holy Trinity. John enjoys attending any HTC athletic event along with rooting on the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. In his spare time you will probably find John on the golf course or visiting his daughter in the Quad Cities.


Joseph P. Harmon- Speech and Drama

Joe Harmon was born and raised in Keokuk, and is a graduate of Tarkio College with majors in Theater and Secondary Education. He worked for one year as an actor for a theatrical booking company before beginning his teaching career. Joe taught 3 years in Palmyra, Mo., 5 years in Canton, Mo., 2 years for Bradley-Bourbonnias, Illinois, and 28 years at FMHS, retiring after the 2016 school year. Though Joe loved his year of retirement, the half time position at HTC was too delicious to ignore. Joe is married to Kim who taught 8 years at Holy Trinity (Aquinas) and is now the Curriculum and Special Education Director at FMCSD. Together they raised Joel, Timothy, Anna, and Erin who attended pre-school, elementary, and middle-school at HTC (Aquinas). Mr. H will be directing the Fall Dinner Theater and coaching the IHSSA Speech team.

Tracy Pauly - Business

Mrs. Pauly graduated from the University of Northern Iowa 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, with an emphasis in Marketing – Advertising and Sales, as well as a minor in Public Relations. She spent over ten years in the television and newspaper industries in management, sales, journalism positions. She later went back to get her Secondary teaching license and holds an endorsement to teach all Business education courses for grades 5 through 12. She teaches college scholarship and career readiness courses.

Sara Mueller - English

Graduated from Aquinas in 1995 and earned an Secondary English Education degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Earned a Masters in Education through Graceland University in 2007.

Taught Computer Science for eight years at McKinley Middle School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and then taught five years of Language Arts in the Keokuk Community School District. Mrs. Mueller is teaching 7th and 8th Language Arts, Literature/Composition, and Publications.

Emily Otte - Music

Emily Otte graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She also earned a Master of Science in Education as a Reading Specialist from Western Illinois University in 2003.

Mrs. Otte taught at Aquinas and Macomb, Illinois before returning to teach instrumental music at Holy Trinity in 2009.

Mrs. Otte performs with the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra, Southeast Iowa Band, Nauvoo Community Band and Orchestra and the Fort Madison City Band.

When Emily is not playing her clarinet, she enjoys spending time kayaking, hiking and traveling with her husband Darin and their 3 children.

Steve Rung - Art

Steve Rung graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1977 with a B.A. Degree in Visual Arts and a minor in Physical Education. Besides teaching Art and PE in the Aquinas system and Holy Trinity School system the last 31 years, he has coached high school basketball, softball, boy's track, girl's track and  boy's golf.  Steve also served as Athletic Director at Aquinas/HTC for 8 years.

Steve and his wife Becky are enjoying their "empty nest" lifestyle. His son Adam started teaching and coaching at Clark County and their daughter Katie accepted a nursing position at Ft. Madison Community Hospital.

Sylvia Soule - Library

Mrs. Soule is a graduate of Truman State University with an emphasis in Art, Applied Arts, English and Education. Sylvia and her husband Bob have three sons. Sylvia taught at Cardinal Stritch in Keokuk for several years prior to coming to Holy Trinity Catholic Schools in 2006.

Mrs. Soule is a member of the Fort Madison Art Center , Keokuk Art Center , Fine Arts Council of Keokuk and the Amana Art Guild, Amana, Iowa. Creativity is a word Sylvia has chosen in the pursuit of everything she does, and maintains it as a priority.

Kathy Steffensmeier - Business

Mrs. Kathy Steffensmeier taught in the Marquette School System for 26 years before the merger of the Holy Trinity Catholic School System. Mrs. Steffensmeier also as the National Honor Society Advisor. Kathy is a graduate of Columbus Community High School and Mt. Mercy College. In 1979, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a minor in Secondary Education. In addition to her degree, Kathy has earned graduate hours from Drake University, Viterbo, Marycreast and the University of Iowa. She is a member of the Iowa Business Education Association, and the AEA16 Regional Business Advisory Committee.

Jill Stull- K-12 Guidance Counselor

Mrs. Stull graduated from Western Illinois University in 2007 with a degree in Elementary Education with middle school endorsements in social studies and language arts. Jill graduated in May of 2014 from Quincy University with a master's degree in School Counseling. Jill’s first four years after college were spent teaching 7th grade geography at the Fort Madison Middle School before joining the HTC staff. Mrs. Stull provides K-12 Guidance and serves as the Jr. High Student Council supervisor.

Madeline Taylor - Religion

Madeline Taylor received her M.A. in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2017. In 2015, she graduated from Hope College with a double major in Religion and Philosophy and a minor in Classics. Ms. Taylor is originally from Northern Michigan and she enjoys playing the cello, listening to music and spending time outside.

 

Jason Woodley - Jr/Sr High Principal


 

Jason Woodley is a native of southeast Iowa. A high school graduate of Central Lee CSD, he have a Bachelors in Music Education from Culver Stockton College and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Saint Ambrose University.

 

Mr. Woodley is currently entering his 21st year in education. Most recently having been at Central Lee High School serving as the Instructional Coach for the last three years.
